Hello hello! I’m Patricia Reis, a Brazilian girl who lives in Netherlands and the girl behind the Isn’t Books Magic and you are very welcome to my little world of books.
I must confess, my taste for books did not show up until three and a half years ago, when I started to read the novel Just One Year from Gayle Forman. It was the year of 2016. I had just returned from an amazing trip with friends to Disney when I found out I had lose my corporate job and one month later, my apartment and my boyfriend that time. Since then, I’ve been reading so much that I lost the count of how many books so far – fact that I love – My taste in books runs the gamut. I enjoy reading all age groups and currently, have a fondness for (I’m addicted to them!) Young Adult fiction and Fantasy.
“My favorite books tend to be ones with diverse settings and rich in world-building, filled with dynamic prose and vivid characters to fall in love with.”
I love anything related to Fairy tales, Folktales, and Retellings. My other go to reads are books featuring elements of Fantasy, Science Fiction, Gothic, Dystopian, Magical Realism, Horror, and of course, Romance! Adult romance are also a big thing to me (high five to my biggest heroes Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward)
MY RATING SYSTEM IS ROUGHLY AS FOLLOWS:
Highly recommended. A book that I loved reading and found hard to put down. The writing style and/or characters set it apart. A book to put on my keeper shelves.
I loved the book and had a great time reading it. Easily recommended to others. An author/series I’m interested in following.
I liked the book and overall enjoyed reading it. Would probably recommend to readers who enjoy the same genre and/or author.
There were some positive aspects, but on the whole, the book just was not for me.
I didn’t care for the book and had a hard time finishing it. Usually, due to a writing or plot problem. I didn’t find the story appealing.
With regards to reviewing and rating books, it’s about how much I personally enjoyed the book based on its story and the writing style. I respect authors and readers, my reviews are my thoughtful and honest opinion.
I review for both Edelweiss and NetGalley as well as in case if I receive advance reader copies from publishers in exchange for a fair and honest review. I also don’t rate books that I don’t finish, and I rarely DNF anything.
Thank you & enjoy the blog!
